It’s Time for This Man to Call His Hand
If he runs as an independent candidate he is bound to win. The UWP has no one else placed to contest the constituency. It will be a walk through for King if he plays his cards right now.
Stephenson King has done the honourable thing. His ascent onto the UWP platform weeks before the last general elections pumped lifeblood into the party and brought it across the victory line at the polls. Yet, as soon as the cabinet was formed, it was clear that he would have to take his place at the foot of the table.
He suffered five plus years on the fringe of the cabinet and for the sake of appearances he remained calm. He never dishonoured the trust of the people of Castries North who elected him on a UWP ticket because he never crossed the floor.
Now Castries North will take King but leave the UWP.
He must move quickly with the pulse. If he runs as an independent candidate he is bound to win. At this eleventh hour, the UWP has no one else placed to contest the constituency. The SLP is apparently not fielding a candidate for Castries North. It will be a walk through for King if he plays his cards right now.
It is time for him to call his hand.
